The History of 4220 Gannett

In January of 2024, we began moving into the building that is now known as the home of RF Home Co and The RFC. Before us, the building was an aluminum and siding company that had been operating out of the space for over 50 years. They sold us the building with everything in it...and thus our journey began.

We hosted a sale to get rid of all the goodies inside the building (my personal favorite was the three giant boxes of plastic eagles), and then got to work gutting the entire building. In most places, we took off all the drywall and any finishing that we could.

We even had to dig a six foot hole in the middle of the building to bring the modern marvel of running water to our show kitchen. Despite all the things we fell off of (ladders, loading docks, the middle of the parking lot), we managed to not fall in the giant hole.

And then, it was time to build. We made the plans for the space of our dreams, and then changed those plans a thousand times before the space that you're standing in now. Our team learned new skills like laying floor, mudding drywall, and putting up entire walls. It was truly all hands on deck (even on the weekends), and we are so proud of what it looks like now.

Chail (chair jail) resulted from a man putting a wall in without thinking about the resulting lack of doors...it stayed this way until we cut him out a few months later. Chail eventually became the hidden pantry that we all know and love!

Brandt had to weld the door back onto his truck when it fell off one fateful day. He looked so sad welding it back on.

We truly had a blast working on this project together in our small team of 10. We also couldn't have done it without the support of our community - we hope you enjoy this space just as much as we do, and can feel the love we poured into it over so many months.

We're glad you're here.
